New Blood Exhibition/Brick Lane

On Friday, we all went to London to the D&AD to look at lots of different Universities who had their own stalls showcasing their students’ work. Here I was able to pick up business cards and university booklets explaining what they do there and also what work their students have produced.

I found looking around the D&AD very interesting as the work that was produced were very detailed in some cases and in others very simple but effective. While walking around I took some photos of my classmates looking at the artwork picking up business cards and booklets looking really interested in the art.

After we had finished in the New Blood Exhibition, we were given a couple of hours to explore around brick lane. I chose to go first to look in the shops taking pictures of the art they had around the store on the walls. We then went wondering around taking pictures of graffiti and other local art outside and in stores like rough trade where bands and people have tagged their walls with random art/writing. We then went round the store looking at canvas bags and albums/DVDs we would like to buy.

After we had finished in rough trade, we thought would explore in the local market called Old Spitalfields Market where they were selling a variety of different stuff like clothes, jewellery, DVDs, Antiques, and food. While in the market, we walked around looking at lots of different stalls, mostly looking at clothes to buy as we thought the clothing they were selling looked really nice and also funny.

Overall, I think the trip was really good, as I have never been to that area before and being able to go into the market and universities stalls and see such a variety of different artwork and things we could buy.
